Just facts, voters!

April 8, 2014

"What is obvious to one is not necessarily obvious to all. Please write some articles for publication. I for one would like to read your extended thoughts on a subject of your choosing. I urge you and all of the contributors to this comment section to share your thinking in full scale articles to the Gazette."

Something on par with the mindless drivel you somehow coerce the S-G to print?

Speaking for myself, I don’t have the interest or skill to write articles for the paper. I have a lot of experience writing, but it was technical in nature, including customer proposals. Articles are far too wordy for the writing I do. If I’d written like that professionally, nobody would’ve taken the time to read my stuff.

"Most voters aren’t stupid; they’re simply not interested in politics. You can’t really blame anyone for that, especially these days."

I give up.

You're all hooked on "glittering generalities."

Sorry I came back. (As I am sure you are too).

Condescendingly yours,

The Pretentious Twit

Is it okay if we just comment here, Tim? Now that a subscription is required to read the articles, while this comment section remains free, this forum may be the better option to have something read by more citizens.

But if I do write an article that gets published, surely I won't repeatedly and condescendingly suggest others to the same. I might, then, come off as a pretentious twit, unless, of course, that's the object.

Last invitation to all to write an article...got to go...all of you contributors deserve a wider audience beyond each other. Go ahead: write and submit an article.

"Not all of us have connections at the Sun-Gazette which allow us to have articles published. If I did, I wouldn't waste it on the kind of silly platitudes you do. Having read far too many of your wistful musings. Enigma

"Specifics aren’t needed when commenting about what is obvious to anyone paying attention to what’s going on" Phil Underwood

I see, by your remarks, that you like Mr. Underwood have little use for specifics.

Connections at the Sun Gazette...you have no idea how funny that is. but, in any event, it should not deter you from submitting an article. I wonder if you ever have. Please do. You'll be great, and you will be far more in line with the Gazette's editorial stances than I am. Quit looking for excuses not to write an article. You can do it.

No, the only smart voters are the ones who agree with me. But seriously, a person doesn't have to agree with me to be intelligent, or informed, only to be right.

Mr. Underwood: Here's a suggestion for your first article. Just expand on what you appear to describe as the key to your unique understanding of the political landscape:

"Truth isn’t a factor in political narrative, it’s only purpose is to play to voters that don’t bother digging for the truth and that’s most of them.

Specifics aren’t needed when commenting about what is obvious to anyone paying attention to what’s going on"

I would be interested in hearing about what "paying attention" is. I'd also like to learn how you came to be blessed with a personal intuitive political insight that does not require any dependence on specifics.

I look forward to reading all about it.

It doesn't take a full scale article to show that most voters are stupid. Look who they elected President for the last 2 terms.

Specifics aren’t needed when commenting about what is obvious to anyone paying attention to what’s going on; besides there isn’t enough space here to even begin to list politician’s lies, contradictions and half truths.

Corbett could cut all of our taxes if he would tax the churches and colleges. Bet his budget gives another $350 million to Jerry Sandusky University again this year.

A request: ...please make some future comment of yours more than a "glittering generality"...that is, something more than "an emotionally appealing thought so closely associated with highly valued concepts and beliefs that it carries conviction without supporting information or reason."
