Yes Luey...educate those that haven't gone down that road. Capt Miller stated that the Columbian cartel has cornered the her@in market and that the dealers are smarter than Bill Gates [stupid remark!]...well...IF they had no customers...they would leave town...kill them in the pocketbook!...WE need to save those that haven't started down that 'no return path'

Enlisting the communities help is great, however, there are a multitude of issues taking place. Running the dealers out of town only solves that issue....the supply. What is to be done with the her oin users? If you know how the drug works, medical aide and a complete lifestyle change is needed. According to the medical professionals and recovering addicts, this is even difficult to achieve. How do you get rid of the demand? Educate the children NOW and prevent future use.

Loyalsock and moved in rather than out many years ago. The goal can be the same with different methodology. At this point, treatment, the judicial system and policing have been abject failures. We need to try different things. One program won't fit everyone or all the needs. The ****** Task Force may ultimately do some good work. Some people think having the faith communities go downtown and pray will work. Some think listening to ex-addicts bare their soul is effective. Some think jail is effective. There will be different options for everyone who wants to participate. I'm glad you see HTF as a potentially fruitful endeavor and see that as your niche. Your statement about T. Miller was unfair. I would find passionate to be a better descriptor, having actually been in the room. Maybe you are not active on face book but even those who disagreed re: hoops are ending comments with "but I like Tim Miller". Everyone doing something is better than a whole city doing nothing.

Spike2, the hoops were removed to prevent another (drug related)shooting....that is what the Mayor said. Now, "the concept" of a TEAM WILLIAMSPORT is being implemented by who? Why the need for both a Her oin Task Force and a Team Williamsport when the goals are the same?

All political semantics! BTW, I was born and raised here....Thanks for asking. How about yourself?

Luey - Over and over you insinuate I am/was a police officer or city employee. Every time you want to dodge you do this. You have tried this 100 times in other posts. How many times does it take for you to figure out I was never an employee. You want encouragement. Go sit on your porch. Probably nothing will happen but that depends on where you live. You would crack me up if you would ever follow thru with a conversation rather than resorting to your old, tired and wrong insinuations.

Spike2, you crack me up! Do you live on 2nd Street or are you just frequently called there? If particular houses on 2nd Street are a continual problem, figure out a way to CLOSE THEM DOWN! Pour your efforts into encouraging those who are "playing" by the rules. Who in the heck keeps giving the criminal a welcome party every time they re-enter the system?

Luey - does a raised voice scare you? I was there and no one was scared. No one was rounded up and made to go. The sad part was it became too focused on hoops. "So he will start his own clique". Did you learn that word in the video? I notice you did not respond to my suggestion you take a walk down 2nd Street. Not in your area? i can give you another and another and another. Many in this town are afraid sit on porches. Many people will not go to certain stores. Maybe you really don't know much about the conditions in far too many areas. There are not enough police to fix this. There are not enough agencies to fix this. Either people get engaged or we fall block by block. Do you even live in the city?

luey - that is partial crap. The ****** task Force has a part in this. They are hardly the begin all and end all. Second, have you approached Tim Miller in person or by phone> he seems unapproachable? take a walk down 2nd Street for a start after 9PM.. That should give you a better grasp on approachable. Why don't you humbly ask for a conversation while you are there. We had an Asst Chief for awhile several years ago. I actually have no idea why the position exists? Again, call and ask. Go to the City Council Meeting. Pick up your phone.

Make no mistakes... THIS IS ALL POLITICS!!! "Team Williamsport" has already been established and it is called the Her oin Task Force, which embraces the entire County and beyond.

Assistant Chief Miller stated Monday night that he "despises politics" and this is the reason..."My father was police chief under Jessie Bloom, whom people associate with the influx. My father died of cancer at age 53 after serving this city for 31 years. He did nothing about the problem and he (T. Miller) will not continue that legacy." So he will start his own clique. From the demeanor of Miller the other night (hostile, screaming, slamming things, way to much drama)as he was asking for people to join his "team" was the strangest thing I have ever viewed. Usually when you ask for help, humbling yourself works best. He seems very unapproachable

Well Spike...you opened that door....If the chief in charge is doing his job...why the need for an assistant chief in charge? Since you are the authority in local law enforcement....how many times has this been done in the past?

Just curious ... Assistant Chief .. to be second in command or if Chief unavailable. Does Assistant Chief Miller live in the City? I hope he does, little reason to groom a successor if not allowed to serve as Chief due to residency requirement.

Well Andy, I believe Asst. Chief Miller was recently promoted. He's doing something. Maybe the ****** Task Force will too. I also attended the HTF meeting. What I see is a lot of folks telling each other what a fine job they are doing. Would you suggest a political agenda is not a part of some of the participants? It will take numerous groups and different approaches for anything of consequence to occur. As to coverage, the HRT has numerous individuals involved who receive news coverage with a phone call. What have the courts done in the drug parade with the exception of Lovvechio? At least he shares a story from his heart.

Oh yes...he is sooooooo tough on crime..he grandstands and won't give 2 ounces of credit or print space to the H Task Force....and BTW...he was a member of a sub committee and never attended until he realized it was an opportunity to get his face in front of the public to further his grandstanding..! Oh...and lets talk about Capt Miller, the spokesperson for the long arm of the law. Where has the head cheese been all this time? The very person who should have been leading this Her@in parade! How about it Spike?

Ahhh..the sweet smell of an upcoming sure to be interesting political season! NOT! We all know the mayor uses the media to gain attention for his future campaigning next Spring. Yup...remember Day One You're Done billboard across from the prison the Mayor put up? Hmmm ...how did that turn out for you Honorable Mayor? There is a fine line between city employees (codes, police, whoever)performing their duties and being used as pawns in the media and for future campaign mailers. Shame on you Mr. Mayor, alerting and allowing children attend those codes actions. Some goofball, high druggie could have come out guns ablazing, heaven forbid. Hasn't our police department been through enough? Just let them do the job they were hired to do and stop your grandstanding Mayor. Your opportunity to run for re-election will come soon enough. I know, I know you're being tough on crime, please quit putting innocent citizens at risk. There's a time and place for everything.

Is it not ironic that what Mr Hall is accusing the CoP of, he's doing himself? Airing the dirty laundry and fact that one side cant work together with the other, when in fact we're all on the same f'n team. Please mom and dad, if you are going to fight, don't do it in front of the kids.

Fight about the cameras in chambers, do it at City Council, send each other memos. No one pays for "new" to read about in-fighting ago. Additionally, the "hoops" issue did accomplish something. 30 to 50 people came together in a room to express their feelings. These are people who would normally never cross paths. Are citizens engaging one another an idea to be discouraged? Lastly, the ****** Task Force along with every possible means should be used to attack the availability of the drug on the street as well as treatment and recovery aspects. No one group as a stand alone can accomplish all. I think it should be the right of all citizens to be involved in one or as many groups as they chose. Adults are able to decide this for themselves. Councilman Hall should also know it is refreshing to have police speak directly to us, the people who depend on them. I don't pay taxes for a Councilman to decide what I need to know.
