Just wondering

May 26, 2014

I just wonder how the children and seniors who had a field trip up Little Pine Dam enjoyed their day. There were trucks constantly going up and down that road all day using their jakes....

We locals live with the ******** on harleys and the gasholes every day. We all think they are immature idiots.

PS Jake Brakes should only be used when absolutely necessary. Hel l, they force airliners to cut power on takeoff to reduce noise. And as any pilot will tell you, they'd rather not cut power. But it's OK and perfectly safe. Same should go with conventional brakes. Jake only when on hilly roads.

I'm a Harley guy Premier, an I could not agree with you more. After 46 years of riding, I can tell you a little thunder is a big safety feature. But this straight pipe BS. It is a nuisance, It is illegal, and it does drop the HP and torque on V-Twin. In other words, it's not only immature as you correctly said, it's also stupid.

Jake Brakes are one of the most annoying sounds but I can't see there use as that road is not really hilly. Now on the other hand we have these guys on their Harley's that have illegal aftermarket pipes so load that they cause hearing loss. They think it's cool, I think it shows immaturity. I don't know how they get away with it. Try the same thing on your vehicle and see how fast you get pulled over. I'm working in the Waterville area right now and the bikes are way louder than the trucks.
