Foolish blunders

July 17, 2014

You may recall that a few weeks ago, our illustrious president spoke of past presidents making prisoner swaps at the end of wars that took place on their watch, much like his swap he said......

My apologies, Scott. I mistakenly thought you had equated this trade to trading baseball cards. Admittedly, due to a lack of available time, I sometimes read through these posts hurriedly, and not as thoroughly as I should before chiming in. My worry about this trade, is that sometime down the road, it will come back to bite us in the ***. BTW, thanks for the scolding, I deserved it! Time to start a fire in the pit, have a few cold ones, and talk about something other than politics! Have a great weekend.

Really Scott?-Cheyenne

I'll try to explain my comment in as simple a way as humanly possible. We have certain posters here that feel that it was not such a hot trade to get an AMERICAN SOLDIER back from a pack of terrorists, when opportunity presented itself. Some have said 5 to 1 is not such a great deal for us. It was said that Obama should have held out for a better deal. It appears to me that they felt that we did not "get a bang for our buck", or that we took the raw end of the trade--otherwise the value of the 5 "masterminds" were more than the value of our AMERICAN SOLDIER. Hence, my equating it to trading baseball cards. I can attempt to explain it in other ways if this is not clear enough. BTW, WHO suggested that "Baseball cards are capable of planning and coordinating terrorist actions"?-Have a Great Weekend!!-Scott

Really Scott? Baseball cards are capable of planning and coordinating terrorist actions? Apples to oranges, IMHO. Let's hope they are kept under close surveillance. Enjoy your day.

The "excuse" given by the Administration is that advance notice to Congress and the Joint Chiefs would have put Bergdahl's life in danger if it leaked.-eriklatranyi

This "excuse" as you call it is simply an 'excuse" because?. Are you implying Obama made it up about his life being in danger if it was leaked?(especially with Issa around) How about telling us how you "know" this. 5 for 1-AMERICAN SOLDIER is not worth it to you? IMHO, You are a very sick man, it seems that your hatred of Obama/liberals comes first--Even at the expense of soldiers that are fighting for the USA. Like trading baseball cards, right Erik? Have a Nice day-Scott

Scott asked:

"Give some reasons why this trade was "not worth it"

First, trading five for 1 is not a good deal.

Second, trading five high-level terrorist planners for 2 is a worse deal.

Tnird, not informing Congress before making the trade is ILLEGAL and indicative that the trade was a bad deal.

Fourth, not informing the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the trade before making the trade indicates it was a bad trade.

Fifth, we were told Bergdahl's health was deteriorating and this trade needed to happen quickly. But we saw him walk on his own upon release and he is returning to duty only a few weeks after returning...not indicative of a serious health problem.

The "excuse" given by the Administration is that advance notice to Congress and the Joint Chiefs would have put Bergdahl's life in danger if it leaked. But they were able to inform Congress and Joint Chiefs before the operation to get Bin Laden.

I totally believe in leaving no one behind...but not like

I guess President Obama is not smart enough to get a better deal for one of our soldiers.-eriklatranyi

Like trading baseball cards, Huh? At times you need to place at least a little trust into those who must make these decisions. HOW do you know that this is NOT the best deal that could be made? I believe it was even brought up about a year ago, trading these "masterminds". I also believe that a number of House, & Senate people were pushing to get this POW back.(Yes, Republicans were in this group) Erik, go back & read a few of the posts you wrote on this very thread--It does not seem that you thought that one of our soldiers was worth the trade--with no real reason why you feel this way, other than IMO, that it is a reason to bash Obama(again, JMO). Give some reasons why this trade was "not worth it". If it is Just Your opinion, at least say so. Have a Great Day Tomorrow!!-Scott

Reading the title of this LTE, I thought for sure the topic must be the outcome of the last few presidential elections. I know, I know, undoubtedly Fox news is responsible for filling me with "hate", for not believing that El Presidente is doing a swell job.

Scott said:

" but those who are willing to leave a POW behind(because the trade was not worth it)because of allegations he left his post, for WHATEVER reason, would be willing to forgo."

You see, Scott, we do not believe in leaving anyone behind. We just don't take the first deal that is offered to us....or negotiate a really crummy deal.

So, Scott, you have to LIE and imply that we want to leave one of our own behind to cover the HORRIBLE deal made by President Obama.

I guess President Obama is not smart enough to get a better deal for one of our soldiers.

Yup, Torture, & all. FWIW, It seems to be missed, but those who are willing to leave a POW behind(because the trade was not worth it)because of allegations he left his post, for WHATEVER reason, would be willing to forgo The American Justice system(military or otherwise), in favor of abandoning that soldier to a pack of terrorists. IMHO, truly pathetically sick.-Have a Terrific Day!!-Scott

Your FACTS are Fox and Limbaugh hate.

Try getting your news from a few sources and forming your own opinions instead of being brainwashed.

Or just go outside for a change and keep your nonsense out of these comment forums. If you have an intelligent point to make, someone who shares your point of view but knows how to engage other people in challenging and intelligent rebutting will chime in, allowing the right to maintain some credibility.

I'm going outside now, I'll be sure to skim past Erik's nonsense next week.
