You finally admit that natural gas is eroding the use of coal but coal's because it is more competitive demise is all the fault of environmentalists and liberals.

Shulski:

Coal works and is getting cleaner. The money has been spent on the plants and they are the backbone of our electricity.

No new coal plants are being built. Instead, combined cycle gas power plants are being built all over the nation.

The good news is that all these smaller gas plants will give us a more reliable grid.

Coal will slowly be reduced naturally from the competition with natural gas.

Scott36:

The proof is for you to accept.

Do you hear the President or DNC talking about private sector unions? Where were they on the UAW vote in Chattanooga?

Private sector unions are dying. Their campaign contributions pale in comparison to those from environmental groups.

That is why unionized coal miners and power plant workers are disregarded while attention and legislation is given to environmentalists.

Again, I come from the coal region. I know people who own coal mines and work in energy plants that burn coal. Many of them hate Obama because of his regulations on coal. His policies have hurt the businesses of those who own the mines and caused the shutdown of the coal burning plant.

Would I like to see better jobs go to where I grew up? Absolutely. But I also hate to see people suffer. Would I like sustainable energy to succeed? Absolutely.

Do I know if burning coal is really as bad for the environment as many scientists say? Right wingers would argue it isn't that bad. I'm just not certain what to think. I wish the real world had simple answers. I listen to both sides and sometimes that is a tragic flaw. Maybe I should just go back to trolling.

BornHere: "Liberals love wind and solar for now...well, wind is losing favor quickly with its unreliable infrastructure and murder of thousands of birds."

Very true.

Additionally, the Federal Government has now stopped paying for 50% of the windmills and supporting infrastructure. That program quietly went away, un-renewed by the Congress without so much as a whisper from Congress or the Press.

Liberals love wind and solar for now...well, wind is losing favor quickly with its unreliable infrastructure and murder of thousands of birds.

But I wonder why Talisman Energy uses wind and solar at their well pads sites to generate electricity IF wind mills are killing birds.

Why aren't they using natural gas to generate electricity????????

Nobody: post:8/7--8:22pm--Well, This one I have to disagree on. Have you heard about the 'Natural Gas' boom going on today? All natural gas that comes out of the ground is ALL ours, AMERICA'S not like oil that we have to put on the 'open market'. I believe this is what is called "Complete Energy Independence",it's 100% OURS! Sure, we sell some on the 'open market' but, that's what we call "ECONOMIC"! Not sure if you noticed that a lot of 'commerical' vehicles like buses and trucks are switching to 'natural gas' and even the state of GA. is converting it's power plants to 'natural gas' heck we got one going up in Clinton Twp.and Bradford county! I'm not sure where they will put the hole in a vehicle to shovel coal in."Only give me two shovel fulls,I'm only going 10 miles"!

Nobody:post:8/7--6:48pm--I agree with your comment,it's called 'MURPHY'S LAW! Nuclear power plants can 'melt down',Natural gas can explode (San Bruno,Calif.),Coal mines can collapse, you name it! So, What we're left with is the lessers of the evils and I wouldn't rank COAL at the top of the list! Why don't we stop using coal for a hundred years,it's not going anywhere, and see what the "air quality' is in that time span? We can always go back to coal. The people that think coal is a good source of energy are the ones that still think the earth is flat! Let's make it simple, let's blame President Obama!!?

Given the investment that has been made into coal power plants, even recently, it would be a crime to not utilize them as part of our energy mix.

But some see coal as evil, dirty and dangerous.....emotional considerations that have no place in policy making.

"Today we have 'scrubbers' cutting back on the amount of co-2 being 'pumped' in to the air from burning coal, why?" --Mercury2

++++

Actually most of the scrubbing is to remove mercury, sulfur and particulate matter. Approximately 10% of the flue gas is carbon dioxide and there is no commercially economical technology to remove it. There are post and pre-combustion processes but they add approximately 35-50% in both the capital and operating costs of the power plant. Plus you use that much more coal to generate energy to capture the CO2. This does not include the pipeline and well injection costs.

I still think that coal should be part of the mix of our overall energy strategy for the US.

I apologize for my typing in the previous post.

I do not think liberals are hypocrites on the energy issue. They are political.

Supporting clean coal and natural gas fit perfectly with energy independence and the large union workforces in those industries.

But liberal politicians have learned they will get more campaign finds from "green" subsidized energy.

Environmentalists contribute more than private sector unions....so look who gets left out.

Just as blacks will be forgotten by liberals once they have a solid, reliable Hispanic voting block.

In summary: I gave you two more excellent reasons to hate me:

I'm against building new nuclear power plants where people live, and I'm against fracking (as currently performed) where people live.

But, continue to make-believe that you pay no attention, even as some of you plagiarize my words.

After all, I'm just an antisemitic neo-nazi liberalconservativesuccessful fraudulent hater of people.

Honestly though, I really don't like people who resemble a mole and talk like they're perpetually angry at life.
