NESQUEHONING, Pa. (AP) — A man who was arrested in North Carolina in connection with a homicide investigation in Carbon County is back in Pennsylvania and jailed on $1 million bail.
Twenty-four-hear-old Anthony Heath of Allentown was arrested Sunday in North Carolina driving the stolen car of Angela Steigerwalt.
The 35-year-old Tamaqua woman was found dead in Jim Thorpe by firefighters putting out a roadside brush fire the day before. She hadn't been seen since leaving for work on Friday.
Heath is currently charged with car theft. He also faces North Carolina charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, resisting arrest and drug possession.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 19 in Carbon County Court.
The investigation into Steigerwalt's slaying is ongoing.
