Main Street wants public’s vision on Thursday

November 7, 2007
By ALISSA EATON - aeaton@sungazette.com
The future of downtown Williamsport is in the public’s hands, according to Joshua S. Trego, Williamsport Main Street manager.

With that in mind, a public “visioning session” will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Community Theatre at the Trade and Transit Centre, 100 W. Third St.

During the meeting, residents will have a chance to learn about the Main Street Program, as well as to voice concerns and ideas on how to go about revitalizing Williamsport.

The meeting will be led by Geoff Brace, Eastern Regional Coordinator for the Pennsylvania Downtown Center, a revitalization organization that oversees Main Street programs across the state.

“They run these type of meetings often,” Trego said. “They will ask people questions and get their opinions.”

Trego said this is the first meeting of its type for the downtown Williamsport area.

“In the past we have had a hard time getting people from the public to come out, but this is a chance for everyone to be involved,” Trego said.
