Most little girls dream of becoming famous. But what if Mommy becomes famous?

It is a dream come true for author Susan Weaver, 39, of Montoursville, who has written and illustrated her first children’s book, which will be released Feb. 10 by PublishAmerica.

“Mommy has a title,” Weaver said when asked what her daughters think.

Her book, “My Goofy Girls,” is her first book. Weaver is the mother of two daughters, Clhoe and Amber, who were both the inspiration behind her book.

Weaver first wrote most of the book, later filling in with artwork, saying it started out as stick people, eventually turning into pictures.

“I wouldn’t read dull books,” Weaver said. “I like to make my books bright, colorful, fun and rhyme-y.”

“My Goofy Girls,” a book about sisters and the fights, the fun and love sisters share. It is a humorous picture book for any age.

“Whether you’re 5 or 50, everyone likes these books,” Weaver said.

Weaver worked for Brodart for 10 years. After being around all those books, she decided about three years ago that it was her turn to write one.

“I told them that one day I would get published,” Weaver said.

During a family get-together, Weaver told her family she secretly was working on a book and it would be published.

“I had no proof, but everyone was proud and happy for me,” Weaver said.

The book’s release in February is exciting for Weaver, as she begins to plan local booksignings through PublishAmerica.

Weaver already has set personal goals until the release, as she works on other children’s books.

“I can’t start without finishing, the stories pop into my head but the pictures are the hardest part,” Weaver said.

Her children are her guinea pigs she said, and that “if they like the stories then I can continue.”

Weaver’s story and illustrations are both fun and moral, as “Goofy Girls” focuses on the love sisters share.

Weaver said the ease of publishing surprised her. Within her first 20 submissions, the book was accepted for publication. However, because of the lengthy period between publishing each book, Weaver is working on the next book, which she plans to publish as soon as possible.

“ ‘My Goofy Girls’ is not a a series, but it could be,” Weaver said. “I’ll wait and see.”

Weaver’s debut book may be found online at PublishAmerica.com, Brodart and Abrams or ordered through local bookstores.

Ringing true as a timeless book, Weaver’s depiction of sisterhood is both cute and correct that whether the age of the siblings, they may upset you, but in the end, they still are your family.

“My Goofy Girls” proves to be a funny look at sisters, as well as a wonderful story.
