Reception and ceremony trends

February 21, 2008
Williamsport Sun-Gazette
When it comes to weddings and receptions, more brides are choosing to go outside.

“We are doing more and more outdoor weddings all the time,” said Lori Johnson of Any Event. She said a big trend is the “sweetheart table,” as opposed to the bridal table.

A sweetheart table is a small table set aside for the bride and groom only, and often is found in the center of all the guests.

Any Event staff attended both expos.

The company is a rental service that offers whatever a couple needs, such as tents, chandeliers, linens, archways and fountains.

“More people do want everything from the lighting to the china. We can do everything from something that is very casual to disposable products like plastic plates and napkins to china and flatware,” she said.

Colors also are worked into both the ceremony and reception more now than ever.

“Brown is definitely the new black. It is very popular, and one reason is fall weddings are growing even more in popularity,” Johnson said. “A lot of people are using brown as an accessory color.”
