Verizon Wireless expands network in Hughesville

Verizon Wireless has expanded its network with a new cell site. The new site, a news release from Verizon said, increases coverage and capacity along Highland Lake Road, Birch Still Road, Deer Lake Road and Foust Hill Road, as well as along Route 220 from Barton Hollow Road to Glen Mawr and from Big Run Road to Picture Rocks.

The network expansion is part of “an aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year” which the cellular service provider said accounts for more than $1 billion every 90 days. The company spent more than $190 million in 2007 to enhance services and coverage throughout southeastern, central and northeastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware, bringing the network investment in the region to more than $1 billion since 2000.

Nationally, according to the news release, the company has invested more than $40 billion over the last seven years into its national wireless network.
