Staff ReportsHughesville was on the right side of all three three-set matches on Thursday and defeated Montoursville 4-1.
The Spartans earned three-set wins from Dan Fritz and Mike Rabb in singles and the team of Bruce Waugh and Randall Davis in doubles.
Muncy swept the doubles from St. John Neumann and earned a 4-1 win.
• The sixth-ranked Lock Haven softball team opened the Salem Tournament with an 11-2 victory over Gannon.
The Lady Eagles (13-5) knocked out 12 hits, including two home runs.
Julia Popovich was 3-for-5 and Sara Norris hit a grand slam, her fourth home run of the season.
Kristin Erb pitched her 12th complete game and struck out 13.
