Woman safely escapes Jersey Shore blaze
Philip A. Holmes - pholmes@sungazette.comJERSEY SHORE -- Fire broke out in a four-unit apartment house at 1308-10-12 Walnut St. about 8:15 a.m. today.
Resident Shannon Fields said she believes the fire began in her first-floor apartment's kitchen.
Fields said she was getting ready to go to work and heard some popping noise. She looked in her kitchen and found curtains and a wall by the stove on fire.
She safely escaped the fire. Her two sons, ages 8 and 10, were already in school.
The fire was knocked down in about 30 minutes. There were no reports of injuries.
