Candidates for the state’s 83rd Legislative District will face a media panel tonight during a forum at the Community Arts Center in downtown Williamsport.
Then, Tuesday night, a second forum at the same venue will give local voters a chance to hear first-hand from candidates for the state’s 23rd Senate District.
Both forums, sponsored by the Sun-Gazette community newspaper, Williamsport-Lycoming Chamber of Commerce and Backyard Broadcasting, will start at 7 p.m and will be broadcast live on radio station WWPA, 1340 AM. Doors open at 6 p.m.
The Republican candidates for the 83rd Legislative District seat being vacated by state Rep. Steven W. Cappelli, R-Williamsport, are Rebecca A. Burke, David Huffman and Dorothy “Dottie” White. Seeking the Democratic nomination for that seat in the April 22 primary election are Mark Holt and Rick Mirabito.
The Republican candidates seeking the party nomination for the 23rd Senatorial District seat being vacated by the retiring state Sen. Roger A. Madigan are Cappelli, Doug McLinko and Gene Yaw. Louis Casimir is the lone name on the Democratic ballot for that seat.
Both forums will be moderated by chamber President Vince Matteo.
