Where’s the tax money going?

POSTED: April 30, 2008

Over the past few years most of the local school districts have been concerned with the amount of students that are disenrolling in public schools and enrolling into either cyber school or home schooling.

Here is the reason why. As a parent of two teenage daughters that are currently going to public school it has been brought to my attention by my children, as well as their friends and their parents, that through out this school year some of the classes at their school do not have enough books for everyone in the class. The books are photocopied and this is being handed out to the students to use for studying and homework. My concern is that if our children are to be getting a proper education than every student in that school should have their own book for each of their classes, not a photo copy. What is really bothersome about this situation is that most of the local schools are more concerned with their sports programs than the students getting an education. How many school sports teams do you see without uniforms and proper equipment? My answer: None. Don't get me wrong, I am not against school sports but it is not a priority over education.

Where is our tax money going? Not for books.
