Man arrested for allegedly hitting cop
From Staff ReportsA homeless man was arrested Monday afternoon after he allegedly assaulted a Pennsylvania College of Technology policewoman as he was attempting to flee from a hit-run accident with his bicycle, according to court records.
Michael E. Fedroff, 53, allegedly pushed Patrolwoman Jennifer Bowers to the ground as the officer was attempting to stop him in the 800 block of West Third Street about 1:30 p.m.
A second officer with Bowers restrained Fedroff, who was taken into custody on charges of simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and hit-run.
In an affidavit, Bowers said she saw Fedroff run his bike into another being ridden by Stephen Vindler, knocking Vindler off the cycle.
As he was trying to flee the scene, Fedroff rode his bicycle into a car that was stopped for a red traffic light, Bowers said.
Following his arraignment before District Judge James G. Carn, he was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in default of $8,500 bail.
