Something to work on

POSTED: May 9, 2008

Last night my son and I were looking forward to our first show at the new cinema center. We attended the 7:30 showing of Ironman.

The theater was beautiful! The staff, friendly and accommodating.

When the lights went down and the movie started, a group of preteens or teens that were sitting way down front, decided to move up toward the very top in front of us.

After they finally decided who would sit where, they continued to talk and text message throughout the entire film, not to mention some of them were in and out of their seats several times.

We did see an usher toward the beginning and at one point the owner himself stood up near us. Of course the kids were quiet then. After the staff was gone it started back up again, and at one point an empty box of candy was thrown and hit my son. Some were even sitting on several steps in the aisles. I was glad when the movie ended. I notified the owner of our experience.

He was very nice and concerned. Standing behind me were others waiting to voice their complaints also. I`m going to assume this was an isolated incident and probably won`t happen again, but if 10 or 15 kids are allowed into a theater without a parent or adult, what can you expect?

The new theater has a security guy that is present at night. I have been to the theater 3 times and haven't had a bad experience yet. People just get to scared sometimes I think. The area is completetly safe.

Are they going to get a license to sell take out and drink in beer? Do they sell "hoggies" ?? Is there a bicycle rack, or a separate parking lot for Steve Temple ?

Do they allow three-legged pet, hero pigs with an adult ticket? She don't use a cell phone or text, and she's theatre-broken.

maybe instead of ushers the movie theater needs bouncers.

biobabycj - apparently you haven't had much experience with the local teen population. You cause them "distress" and they will harass you until you want to cry. We have a very bad group of teens in our community. They have received zilch lessons in manners from their parents. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they abuse their parents until the parents of afraid of them.

Thank you for your letter. I just remembered why I never go to the movies any more. I would much rather wait until the movie comes on PPV and watch it in the comfort of my living room. It it very sad that these kids ruined a good time for you and your son. Whatever happened to ushers?

why would you allow it to go on thru the whole movie? honestly, a few coughs and whispers and then it should have been over. if they proceeded to fool around take your butt to someone in charge right away or else you really have no reason to gripe..
