Attack by bear reported in area

BARBOURS — A 44-year-old woman and a dog were attacked by a bear in the 200 block of Dunwoody Road in Plunketts Creek Township about 9:15 p.m. Monday, according to rescue personnel.

Emergency medical technicians from the township as well as paramedics from Loyalsock Township were dispatched to the scene.

The victim reportedly suffered head, arm and leg injuries, according to initial reports. She was taken to Williamsport Hospital, according to reports. Her identity and condition were not available Monday night.

Further details of the attack also were not immediately known.
