It’s easy to see that Chris Beck loves her job. She is all smiles everyday as she helps brides-to-be and their bridesmaids pick out wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses and other wedding accessories.

Beck owns First Impressions Bridal Boutique, located at 60 W. Southern Ave., South Williamsport, sells wedding bridesmaid and prom dresses, along with tuxedos and other accessories that brides and prom-goers would need.

She also has flower girl dresses, jewelry, gloves and slips for brides.

Beck said prom is a large part of her business this time of year, but bridal sales outweigh the impact of other events throughout the rest of the year.

Beck employs four people including a seamstress, Dee McDermit who works three to four days per week. McDermit offers customers alterations.

The wedding dress and bridesmaid lines she carries are DaVinci, Jasmine, Impressions and Eden. Of course the store can also special order items not in stock.

“When a bride comes in and you get her the dresses and talk to them and get a feel for their personality,” Beck said. “When they come out you can tell by the look on their face if the dress is the one or not. It sounds cliche, but the dresses really talk to the girls.”

She said she just loves being able to help the brides. “I love being around people and the business was a good marriage, no pun intended,” Beck said laughing. “It’s a really happy time in people’s lives and it’s nice being included as a part of it.”

Beck has a background of working in retail and is coming back to it after spending time at home raising her two daughters.

The store has free parking and is tucked between Montour Beverage and Yen King Chinese.
