At its annual dinner meeting in May, the Junior League of Williamsport voted in the new board for 2008-09 league year.
Board members are: Shelby Weber, president; Amanda Carroll, president-elect; Brette Confair, secretary; Jennifer DeGregorio, treasurer; Valerie Masser, finance vice president; Laurie Crane, community vice president; Dana Borick Brigandi and Jennifer McLean, co-membership vice presidents and Joyce Hershberger, sustainer vice president.
The Junior League of Williamsport also announced this year’s recipient of the Woman of the Year award was Monica Larson. The award is given each year to an active member of the league in recognition of superior service to the organization.
Larson served as community assistant chairwoman for the 2007-08 year. In addition, she served as chairwoman of Cinderella’s Closet, a used prom dress sale to benefit the self-esteem of teenage girls. Larson’s time, commitment and ideas were instrumental in making the first year of the community project a huge success.
The Junior League of Williamsport is an organization of women devoted to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
