Easy, delicious, nutritious. Fun, informative, friendly. New cooks, seasoned cooks, wannabe cooks. Everything and everyone comes together Nov. 5 at the Sun-Gazette's Taste of Home Cooking School, which comes to the Community Arts Center.

This is the opportunity, for some, to spend a delightful day visiting the show vendors, grabbing a bite to eat and visiting sites in downtown Williamsport. For others, it's the chance to relax after working all day and be entertained while learning new recipes and tips.

Each year, we discover more ways to help our patrons enjoy the pre-show events at the Genetti Hotel. This year, we will be dividing our vendors between the Mediterranean-Terrace Room and the Grand Ballroom. Weis Markets, a huge favorite with our patrons and a show sponsor, will set up in both rooms to allow everyone the opportunity to sample their goodies.

One extra special highlight this year is the grand prize provided by show sponsor Miller's in Mill Hall - a sofa and chair, along with an 8-foot lighted Christmas tree from Aquarius Pools.

The show sponsor for onstage appliances, Bill's GardenView Appliances, will have at their booth a registration box for someone to win either a brand new electric or gas range.

Mystic Garden is a newcomer to the show sponsor list and promises to have a gorgeous display at their vendor site in the ballroom and arrangements for the Community Arts Center.

And don't forget Kitchen Design Studio, which for four years has provided beautiful, functional cabinetry on which our culinary specialist performs her magic.

Auditorium seats will be assigned the day of the show, just as we did last year, so early-arriving groups can sit together.

The City of Williamsport and the Williamsport Parking Authority are offering free downtown meter parking the day of the show.

And don't forget the bags! The gift bags are exceptional treasures - they contain everything you will need for the show, your registration card and your cooking magazine - and more. Our vendors and Taste of Home and the Show's national sponsors fill these bags with items.

This year's culinary specialist is enthusiastic about cooking and sharing her knowledge with new folks. Cheryl Cohen has a bachelor's degree in home economics education and is a certified food safety professional and food safety instructor. She is a down-to-Earth kind of lady who enjoys reading, gardening, clog dancing and, of course, cooking.

Tickets may be bought by stopping at our office at 252 W. Fourth St., or by calling 326-1551 or 800- 339-0289.

Tobias is the event coordinator at the Sun-Gazette.
