"We are a full service distributor, offering a complete line of electrical and data products," he said. "We're not a retail outlet but if someone needs electrical supplies and walks up to our counter, we will certainly help them."
The Williamsport Branch covers about 13 counties in Central Pa. and supplies many contractors, institutions and commercial and industrial businesses. WESCO presently has the contract for lamps and electrical supplies for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and it's CO-STARS affiliates.
The company has has an experienced staff of both inside and outside sales representatives, supported by an outstanding administrative team, according to Morrett.
"We were originally the distribution arm of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation," Morrett said of how the company got it's name.
As Westinghouse began divesting various business units back in the late 90's, Wesco became a publicly held company and now trades on the News York Stock Exchange under symbol WCC.
In addition to the 400 other branch locations, there are three distribution centers across the United States, and a few in Canada that are the primary point of stock replenishment for most of the material the company gets.
"The one that we work with is in Warrendale, PA, just west of Pittsburgh," Morrett said. "We see that as a very strong advantage in our market."
That warehouse is a fully-automated 600,000 square foot facility that the Williamsport location receives daily deliveries from.
"Anything that we order by 5 p.m. today will actually be delivered overnight here," he said. "It gives our customers access to a breadth and depth of inventory that is unmatched in our industry."
That improves the fill rate on orders and eliminates back-order time for customers. "It really just allows us to offer an extremely high level of service to our customers," Morrett said.
The company sells many of the leading manufacturers of electrical products. Eaton Cutler-Hammer, Philips Lighting, Cooper Industries, Pass & Seymour and Thomas and Betts are just some of the products the company offers.
The company employs over 7,000 people, maintains relationships with over 29,000 suppliers, and serves more than 110,000 customers worldwide. Its major markets include commercial and industrial firms, contractors, government agencies, educational institutions, telecommunications businesses, and utilities, the company's Web site said.
"We can give people local service supported by a national network of branches and distribution centers," he said.
