State to close southbound left turns at overlook for safety

Within the next several days, the state Department of Transportation will be restricting southbound left turns into and out of the Route 15/Montgomery Pike scenic overlook in Armstrong Township to enhance motorists' safety.

A review was conducted by PennDOT and the Federal Highway Administration to improve traveling, by curbing traffic movements that could lead to crashes along that stretch of Route 15.

Future plans are to add a median barrier along portions of that area to restrict left turns.

Southbound motorists can still access the PennDOT-provided picnic area on the southbound side of Route 15.

Lycoming County:

Shoulder cleaning on Route 44 in Watson Township Monday and Wednesday to Friday.
