Health insurance, Iraq war, new president on mind of Muncy man

Since he's been on disability for about eight years, George Campbell knows first-hand the need for having good health insurance coverage.

"You've got to wonder if the new guy going into office is going to do any good, and what he can do (for health insurance)," the Muncy man said of President-elect Barack Obama.

Campbell said he sees a real need for a national health insurance program.

"There's a lot of people out there who just can't afford health insurance at all," he said.

"This guy coming in now (Obama) seems half-decent. He didn't start out rich either, so he's not like some of the rest of the politicians," Campbell said.

Campbell, who retired in 2000 from Muncy Homes after 16 years of service, said he believes very strongly that the country has to pull out of Iraq, and that the war was wrong from the get-go.

"We've got to get out of there. We have been in there way too long," he said.

"Is anyone in Washington (D.C.) going to do a darn thing about our problems? That's what I've been thinking about," Campbell said.

When asked if he was at all hopeful about the future, Campbell replied, "All we can do is see what happens. I hope he (Obama) knows what he's doing. That's all you can count on."
