Chuck West, owner of Batter’s Box, located at 152 W. Fourth St., sells sports cards and other memorabilia.

The jerseys are one of his biggest sellers, and West said people will come in the store specifically for those.

"A lot of people drive by and see the jerseys and then stop and buy one," West said.

West keeps his jersey prices lower than any competitors, but because he doesn't have a lot of room to stock jerseys but he can place special orders for customers.

It takes about two weeks for the jerseys to get in to the store. West had an abundance of orders for them for Christmas, but continues to get orders steadily.

He also places special orders for cards too. "The cards people are looking for I usually have, but I can order them too," West said.

But West doesn't run the store alone. He has a business partner, Steve Degideo that lives in Arizona but is planning a move to the Williamsport area.

West is also from the Arizona state, but moved to Pennsylvania eight years ago.

Degideo and West met when they both lived in Arizona. They loved collecting baseball cards and other sports items and eventually decided they wanted to open a business together.

West had friends that lived in Pennsylvania and decided he wanted to open the business in this state. He eventually moved to Williamsport and decided it would be the perfect town for his business.

"I choose to open downtown because I knew the area was growing," West said. "I wanted to be a part of that growth."

West also has die cast collectors items, for different teams that he sells in the store. West loves collecting and has many Pittsburgh Steeler's items.

"I love working at my hobby," West said. "I collect a lot of Steelers cards and items."

A new items that West has begun carrying at his store is baby clothing, mostly onesies, with team names printed on them.

In the future, West is hoping to stock a second room with other sport's items, such as keychains, t-shirts, hoodies, ink pens, bumper stickers, bandannas and other items with team logos on them. "

I am planning on doing that in the spring," West said.

West said he gets some foot traffic from the downtown area and that his sign brings people that are staying at the Genetti into his store.
