Two people face assault charges
Two people have been charged with simple assault and related offenses following disturbances.
Those charged and the police departments involved were:
Jason A. Lyons, 20, of 1710 Memorial Ave.; city police, allegedly bit his mother, Angie D. Lyons, on the hand and shouted expletives at police at the Williamsport Hospital on Thursday, jailed in lieu of $3,500 bail.
Jody Lee Livziey, 45, of 6641 S. Route 44, Jersey Shore; state police, allegedly punched her roommate, Ellen Kay Thompson, and struck her with a telephone at their Limestone Township residence on Feb. 7, released on $5,000 bail.
Police: Undercover officer buys counterfeit cocaine from city man
A suspected drug dealer allegedly sold four grams of phony crack cocaine Wednesday to an undercover city police officer in the 500 block of Memorial Avenue.
The counterfeit drugs were purchased at about 12:30 p.m. from Troy M. "Zafir" Purnell, 41, of West Edwin Street, police said.
Purnell was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Allen P. Page III on charges of delivery of a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility, theft by deception and receiving stolen property.
He was committed to the county prison in lieu of $12,000 bail.
