The Williamsport Recreation Commission is scheduled to meet April 20, and at the meeting, many on the commission board will meet Megan Hill, the new senior director of the River Valley Regional YMCA's city branch.
As senior director, Hill also is the supervisor-in-charge of city recreation programming.
Hill is a 10-year YMCA employee with experience at the Lock Haven, Upper Bucks and Berwick YMCAs.
She described this month's city recreation meeting as important because of a full agenda, much of it related to the city's summer parks program and swimming pools.
Her first meeting as senior director would have been last month, but no meeting was possible due to a lack of a quorum.
Hill is the replacement for Steve Heinbach, last year's director. The positions responsibilities include the YMCA's contract with the city for all recreation programming and management of the three city pools - the Memorial Park and East End public pools and the free Brandon Park children's pool.
For the city, Hill will oversee the pools, the parks program and all special park events, including free events like the popular warm-weather pops concerts and family movies in Brandon Park.
"Our goal is to let the public know all the great programs and events we have in the city," Hill said. "We have a program for everyone."
In addition to her recreation commission duties, Hill also oversees the city YMCA's fitness and aquatic programs and the Pickelner Arena operation.
Hill started her YMCA career as a lifeguard and later worked as an aquatics director for seven years and then as a senior director for three years.
She has a bachelors degree in fitness management from Lock Haven University
Also new to the city YMCA staff is Daryl S. Ellzy, events director for the arena. He is a city native and soon will receive a bachelors of science degree in sports administration.
Ellzy served in the Army for six years after graduating from Williamsport Area High School in 1998.
Assisting Hill during the coming summer will be Scott Rudinski, the Y's sports and recreation coordinator.
