Vivian Dieffenderfer

Vivian E. Dieffenderfer, 97, formerly of the Valley and Williamsport, passed away, Monday, June 1, 2009, in Jersey Shore Manor Care.

She was born Aug. 9, 1911, in Williamsport, the daughter of Charles and Sophia Doney Beidler.

Vivian was a former member of the Newberry United Methodist Church and a member of its church choir.

She was the widow of her late husbands, Earl Sholder, Malcolm D. Wagner and Max C. Dieffenderfer.

Vivian was a homemaker most of her life. She was an excellent seamstress, known for her wedding gowns.

She was also an accomplished violinist.

Vivian is survived by a daughter, Lois M. Koch of Jersey Shore; a son, Maurice (Shawanna) Sholder of Oval; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildre n.

She was predeceased by a grandson, Howard Welshans in 1961, one brother, Howard Beidler and a sister, Elizabeth Meckley.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Manor Care Health Services, 1008 Thompson St., Jersey Shore, PA 17740.

Vivian's Life Celebration will begin with a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2009, at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd. "A Life Celebration Home," 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, followed by services at 11 a.m., with Rev. Ted Van Schoick officiating. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery.
