It's not often that local kids get to train in the area with a professional athlete, let alone an Olympic medalist. But this November, that's what many will be able to get the opportunity to do.

Cat Osterman, Caitlin Lowe and Kelly Kretschman will all be conducting a softball camp this fall. All three women are members of the 2008 US softball team and both Osterman and Kretchman won gold medals in 2004 in Athens for team USA.

Dan Lazorka, the Lycoming College softball coach, and Lycoming College are helping to get the softball camp organized and are hoping that local kids will be able to take part this year as opposed to last year when Jennie Finch had her camp.

"We wanted to give it to the local kids because the Finch camp filled up so fast, so the locals didn't get to benefit from it," Lazorka said. "So before it goes national, we want our kids here to get the chance to sign up first."

Those interested can go to the Triple Threat Softball website (www.TripleThreatSoftball.com) to register for the camp which will run November 14 and 15.

Osterman holds numerous NCAA Division I records including career strikeouts with 2,265 in her four years at the University of Texas. She also is the NCAA all-time leader for strikeouts per seven innings with 14.34 and holds the Big 12 record with 25 Pitcher of the Week awards. Osterman also won conference Pitcher of the Year all four years at Texas, a Big 12 record.

In her career, she pitched a total of 20 NCAA no-hitters and 10 NCAA perfect games.

Lowe was named Pac 10 newcomer of the year in her freshman season at the University of Arizona and was a Top 10 Finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year.

Lowe is the Wildcats' career leader in stolen bases with 156, and is only the second four-time All-American in Arizona's history. Lowe is also one of just 12 players in Division I history to have over 300 hits, 200 runs and 100 stolen bases.

Kretschman also had a lengthy list of career accomplishments. At Alabama, Kretschman was a three-time First Team All-SEC, four-time NFCA All-American and was a member of the All-Women's College World Series team in 2000.

She also was nominated for the nation's player of the year award in 2001. In her freshman season, Kretschman led the NCAA in home runs with 25.

Kretschman won silver in Bejing in the 2008 Olympics and was a gold medalist in the 2004 Olympics. Kretschman also played on the 2000 Olympic gold medal team, but was an alternate.

All three talented softball players were gold medalists at the 2007 Pan American Games, and were World Cup Champions in 2007.

Both Lowe and Osterman were also 2007 World Cup Champions and Osterman was also a gold medalist at the Pan American Games in 2003.
