Laura M. Holliday Andrus, 86, of 97 Grimesville Road, Williamsport, formerly of Newberry, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, at her home.
Born Oct. 21, 1922, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of Albert and Elnora Rightmire Holliday. She was a 1940 graduate of Williamsport High School and had worked for Armour Leather. Laura retired as a nurse's aid from Williamsport Hospital, after 40 years. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, and belonged to the Hooker's Knitting Group and the YMCA.
Surviving are five children, Dorothy J. Royer (Haskell) of Lancaster, Gloria J. Leonard, with whom she lived, Walter B. Andrus (Miriam) of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Virginia C. Detweiler of Walla Walla, Wash., and Margie J. Cholin of Williamsport; six grandchildren, Dean Baugus, Rebecca Pryor, Janine Leonard, Jesse Andrus, Jonathan Andrus, and Emily Cholin; five great-grandchildren, Andrew and Kendra Baugus, and Dylan, Kayla, and Katie Pryor; a brother, Charles Holliday; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 10 siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 201 Market St., South Williamsport, with Pastor Tom Grove officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Laura's name may be made to the S.P.C.A., 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.
