Youth Literacy Grant supports local YMCA

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation has awarded River Valley Regional YMCA a $3,000 youth literacy grant.

The Dollar General Youth Literacy Grant provides funding to schools, public libraries and nonprofit organizations for the implementation or expansion of literacy programs.

"Reading is a fundamental building block to a sound education," said Rick Dreiling, Dollar General's chairman and CEO. "Dollar General is proud to support River Valley Regional YMCA's literacy initiatives as they undertake the important task of helping young minds master the skill of reading."

River Valley Regional YMCA is one of 1,101 organizations to receive a grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation in 2009.
