Roundup: Lancer girls shut out South

Loyalsock's Marlee Hibbs had three goals and the Lancers moved to within one game of clinching the Heartland-II Conference with a 4-0 victory over rival South Williamsport on Tuesday at the Balls Mills Complex. Hibbs opened the scoring in the first half with a penalty kick for the Lancers 13-3-1 overall and 11-1-1 HAC-II).

Benton's Hannah Seely had a goal and an assist as the Tigers blanked Montgomery, 3-0.

Riley Gossner and Jess Shaeffer combined for 10 saves but Williamsport fell to Mifflinburg, 4-1. Allison Agnone scored the lone goal for the Millionaires on an assist from Emily Ludwikowski.

Megan Croyle scored twice and was one of eight Montoursville players to score a goal as the defending Class AA state champions overpowered Shamokin, 10-1.

MacKenzie Ruby and Kelsey Springman scored twice as Muncy shut out Neumann, 7-0.

Benton's Hannah Seely had a goal and an assist as the Tigers blanked Montgomery, 3-0.

In boys soccer, Mitch Pequignot netted four goals and Liberty beat Elkland, 6-2. Corey Hopkins and John Davis also scored for Liberty while Alex Preson and Ryane Rumsey had the goals for the Rams.

Logan Hatton and Kelby Mullen finished first and second to power Sullivan County to the Heartland Athletic Conference, Division II Championship with wins over Williamsport, Southern Columbia, CMVT and Warrior Run Tuesday at Southern Columbia. The Griffins finish their regular season with a school-record 25 wins and will compete in the Shikellamy Invitational Saturday.

Lewisburg won meets against Midd-West, Milton, Montoursville, Mifflinburg and Hughesville all by the score of 15-50.

Ann Cromley finished in first place with a time of 21:27 to lead Williamsport's girls cross country team to wins over Southern Columbia, Sullivan County, and Warrior Run.

Lewisburg wrapped up an undefeated season and a Heartland-II championship with wins over Midd-West, Milton and Montoursville. Hannah Bowen paced the field for the Green Dragons (18-0, 15-0).

In field hockey, Rex Cline scored a goal and Rachel Harer had 19 saves but Muncy lost, 3-1 to Benton.

Amiee Snyder and Rebecca Reynolds won in singles and doubles, but Lycoming's tennis team fell 5-4 to Albright.

In men's soccer, Lock Haven outshot Wilmington 15-7 but it wasn't enough as the No. 14 ranked Wildcats topped the Bald Eagles, 2-0 in men's college soccer action.

In women's soccer, Amy Wittman scored a goal on a Alissa Gamelier assist and Hayley Zinn had four saves but IUP still managed a 2-1 win over Lock Haven.

Allison Snyder scored the game's lone goal as Millersville topped Mansfield, 1-0. Jackie Karlovich had both of Mansfield's shots on goal.

In women's volleyball, Lycoming battled through five sets against Arcadia, falling 3-2. Lyco outside hitter Beth Machella took a match-high 54 attack attempts.
