JERSEY SHORE - Jersey Shore Area School Middle School held its first-of-the-school-year Orange and Black Breakfast on Oct. 13.
The following business leaders in the Jersey Shore area have graciously agreed to sponsor one of our monthly breakfast. This year's sponsors are JMC Restoration, James Ely Insurance, TW Mahaffey Excavating, Buttorff's Hardware, the Jersey Shore State Bank, Mardens Inc., Fred Hamm Inc. and Susquehanna Transit.
At the beginning of each month, teachers are asked to select one student who displayed good character and a helpful, caring attitude during the previous month. Selected students receive a letter inviting them to attend a breakfast.
On the day of the event, Principal Reed Mellinger and Assistant Principal Jody Livziey welcome the students and serve them breakfast in the school's library.
This month, Michael Harvey Jr., substitute assistant principal, helped serve in place of Livziey.
Members of the school's Family Career and Community Leaders of America Club create seasonal centerpieces and set the tables. The food for each month's breakfast is prepared by the school's cafeteria staff.
The first breakfast of the year honoring students from September was sponsored by Susquehanna Transit.
