About 25 percent cast votes in Tioga County elections

WELLSBORO - About 25 percent of Tioga County's 25,915 registered voters cast 6,446 votes in Tuesday's general election, according to the final election summary report released Friday.

Write-in candidate John Peropat won the fourth open seat on the Wellsboro Area School Board, said Director of Elections George Coxe.

A second write-in candidate, Jon Burrell, who formerly sat on the board, came in second out of the 203 total write-in votes cast, Coxe said.

Three other open seats were won by Craig West, Glenn B. Poirer and Christopher S. Neal.

In the Lawrenceville mayoral race, Republican Diana L. Barnes beat her Democrat rival C.E. Bryce Taft by gaining 72 of the 93 votes cast.

In four-year term borough council races:

Blossburg - Roger C. Bunn received 135 of the 584 votes cast, James J. Bogaczyk received 126 votes, incumbent president Jerome Ogden received 115, Thomas Bogaczyk received 112 and Stephen Wagner received 90. There were six write-in votes.

Elkland - Republican Peter Vangorden received 162 of 979 votes cast, followed by Charles F. Smith with 146, Robert D. Gee III with 136, Stephen M. Brauchle with 134, all Republicans; Democrats Michael A. Hackett with 118, Tony P. Daley with 103, Jackie C. Snyder with 100, and Janice G. Gausline with 65. There were 15 write-ins.

Knoxville - Republicans Chad Payne took 74 of 204 votes cast and Carl E. Cox took 66, followed by Democrat Ricky Bloom with 58. There were eight write-ins.

Lawrenceville - Republicans Melvin Davis took 79 of the 202 votes cast, and Marian G. Russell took 61 votes, followed by Democrat Maxine Smith with 57 votes. There were five write-ins.

Liberty - Republican Daniel F. Kolb took 28 of the 68 votes cast, Gerald O'Conner, 18 write-ins and Jeffrey Mosher 15 write-ins.

Mansfield - incumbents Heather Morgan took 208 of the 608 votes cast, Benjamin Hutcheson took 202 and president Steve Gee took 191. There were seven write-ins.

Roseville - Republicans George Bud Baker took 32 of the 99 votes cast, followed by Ivan Matthewson with 30 and Democrat Willis L. Kittle with 23. There were 14 write-ins.

Tioga - Doreen Carroll took 93 of the 209 votes cast, followed by Harry L. Colegrove with 90. Both are Republicans. There were 26 write-ins.

Wellsboro 1st Ward - Republican Joan Hart took 234 of the 235 votes cast, with one write-in.

Wellsboro 2nd Ward - Republicans John Sticklin took 259 of the 509 votes cast, followed by Terry Bryant with 250, and zero write-ins.

Westfield - Democrat Roger D. McCullen garnered 138 of the 548 votes cast, followed by Republican Gail Erick Bollinger with 135, Democrats Dale J. Weidman with 113, Shawn D. Ianson with 85 and Republican Ronald G. Adams with 73. There were four write-ins.

Knoxville - In one two-year term borough council election, Democrat Gordon D. Price took 63 of the 66 votes cast, with three write-ins.

In township supervisor six-year term races:

Brookfield - Democrat David D. Tombs received 100 percent of the vote with 84 votes.

Charleston - Republican John A. Robertson received 440 of the 443 votes cast, with three write-ins.

Chatham - Republican Joseph C. Miles received 115 of the 116 votes cast with one write-ins.

Clymer - Democrat Carl B. King received 53 of the 64 votes cast, with 11 write-ins.

Covington - Republican Thomas Wivell took 100 percent of the 112 votes cast.

Deerfield - Republican Larry G. Steadman garnered 48 of the 183 votes cast, Democrat William Roosa took 47 and there were 88 write-ins with 87 of those for John Kemp.

Delmar - Republican Oliver Butler took 333 of the 339 votes cast, with six write-ins.

Duncan - Republican Chester L. Clark took 45 of the 49 votes cast, with four write-ins.

Elk - there were 25 write-in votes between Dan Grant and Frank Irions.

Farmington - Wallace H. Kemp took 109 of the 112 votes cast, with three write-ins.

Gaines - Democrat John E. Dingman took 79 of the 80 votes cast, with one write-in.

Hamilton - Republican Keith Youmans took 48 of the 57 votes cast, with Democrat Steve Skolny taking nine and zero write-ins.

Jackson - Republican David C. Winterstein took 220 of the 222 votes cast with two write-ins.

Lawrence - Republican Edward Butch Deming took 175 of the 176 votes cast, with one write-in.

Liberty - Republican Ray L. Ostrom garnered 100 percent of the 161 votes cast.

Middlebury - Republican Thomas A. Bower took 198 of the 214 votes cast. There were 16 write-ins.

Morris - Republican Douglas Cohick received 85 of the 95 votes cast with 10 write-ins.

Nelson - Democrat Thomas J. Wells received 40 of the 41 votes cast with one write-in.

Osceola - there were 33 write-ins between Shawn Main and Walter Beard.

Putnam - Republican Dorothy J. Adams got 35 of the 38 votes cast, with three write-ins.

Richmond - Gary L. Fish took 240 of the 245 votes cast, with five write-ins.

Rutland - Republican Steve Dziuba took 99 of the 118 votes cast, and Democrat Emily Rizzo garnered 17. There were two write-ins.

Shippen - Democrat Mark Wagaman took 100 percent of the 58 votes cast, zero write-ins.

Sullivan - Democrat Bernard H. Cole took 164 of the 285 votes cast, and Republican Corey E. Smith took 121 with zero write-ins.

Tioga - Democrat Kenneth Jones took 132 of the 133 votes cast, with one write-in.

Union - Republican Dale R. Jackson took 117 of the 119 votes cast, with two write-ins.

Ward - Republican Leon J. Nouse took 28 of the 31 votes cast, with three write-ins.

Westfield - Republican Clyde C. Bailey took 131 of the 13 votes cast, with two write-ins.

In two-year township supervisor races:

Gaines - Democrat Greggory S. Brown took 81 of the 83 votes cast, with two write-ins.

Richmond - Republican Tricia Hall took 233 of the 239 votes cast, with six write-ins.

Northern Tioga School District board results:

Region 1 - there were 1,259 total votes cast, with Julie Preston receiving 652 and Howard O'Neil garnering 605. There were two write in votes.

Region 3 - where there were 1,237 votes cast, Kimberly Strausser received 639 votes and Teresa Sasserson garnered 580 votes. There were 18 write-ins.

Southern Tioga School District results:

Region 1 - there were 388 votes cast, 386 of those for incumbent Terry Osborne and two write-in votes.

Region 2 - incumbent Sue Jaquish received 673 of the 1,272 votes cast, and board president Barb Shull garnered 596 with three write-in votes.

Region 3 - incumbent Frank Kollar received 429 of the 433 votes cast, with four write-in votes.

Mayoral races:

There were several mayoral elections, including Blossburg, with incumbent John Backman receiving 146 of the 151 votes cast with five write in votes; Elkland, with Gordon I. Rice receiving 205 of the 231 votes cast with 26 write-in votes; Knoxville, with Donald M. Bosh receiving 87 of the 88 votes cast, with one write-in vote; in Liberty Democrat Darrie L. Mase received 26 of the 28 votes cast, with two write-ins; in Mansfield, incumbent Tom Wierbowski received 204 of the 207 votes cast, with eight write-ins; in Roseville, Republican Lori Colon received 32 of the 33 votes cast, with one write-in; in Tioga Catherine Button received 85 of the 105 votes cast, with 25 write-ins; in Wellsboro, incumbent James Daugherty received 502 of the 508 votes cast, with six write-ins; and in Westfield, Dick Vargeson received 161 of the 178 votes cast, with 17 write-ins.
