Marian E. Neeld

Marian E. Neeld, 91, of 128 Legion Road, Muncy, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville.

Born Sept. 30, 1918 in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Grace (Michael) Reuther.

On Feb. 17, 1941 she married William J. Neeld Jr., who preceded her in death on July 23, 1975.

A 1936 graduate of Muncy High School, she spent several years raising her children before accepting a position as a cook at the Holiday Inn, when it was located on the Golden Strip in Williamsport. She later worked as a cook at the Best Western in South Williamsport.

Marian was an avid bowler and participated in the Tuesday Night Women's Bowling League at ABC Lanes in Williamsport. She also played penny ante poker once a month with her bowling partners. Marian also enjoyed crocheting, quilting lap robes, reading, solving crossword puzzles, and watching soaps.

She was a member of St. Andrew Evangelical Lutheran Church, Muncy.

Surviving are one son, William J. Neeld III of Havertown; two daughters and one son-in-law, Margaret Keefer of Pennsdale and Barbara and Wayne Sholder of Altoona, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jeannine Nicole Keefer of Richmond, Va., Elizabeth Jane Kepner of Snoqualmie, Wash., and Annie Sholder of Florida; and two great-grandchildren, Logan and Nathan Kepner.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was precedeased by all her siblings, John, Bob, Frank and Harold Reuther, Ernestine Reuther, Jeanne Pooler, Betty Stugart, and infant twins, Richard and Virginia; and a son-in-law, Carl Keefer.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
