PFN puts five from area on all-state teamJanuary 3, 2010 - From staff reportsThe Pennsylvania Football News released its 2009 all-state high school football team Saturday with five area athletes being honored. Loyalsock safety Alec Eggerton, Hughesville linebacker Bryce Pardoe and Montoursville punter Blake Berresford all were first-team selections while Hughesville cornerback Levi Oden was a second team selection and Hughesville offensive lineman Chet Ritter was a third team selection. Eggerton was a standout on Loyalsock's defense, intercepting eight passes while helping the Lancers capture the District 4 Class AA championship. Pardoe was a three-year starter at Hughesville, excelling on both sides of the ball, while helping Hughesville go 10-2 and capture the Heartland-III championship. Berresford averaged well over 30 yards per punt at Montoursville and consistently drove opponents back with his booming punts. Oden combined with Pardoe to help Hughesville feature one of the district's top defenses. Oden tied Eggerton for the area-high in interceptions with eight, returning one for a touchdown while often blanketing the team's top receiver. Ritter was a dominant lineman for the Spartans and helped them average more than 300 yards and 30 points per game. The full team can be seen at www.pafootballnews.com. |
