LOCAL ROUNDUP: Williamsport swimming remains unbeaten

Both Williamsport swim teams improved to 6-0 with 97-72 wins over Reading Friday. On the girls side, Bethann Schwoyer won multiple individual events and the Millionaires swept the relay events. Trevor Harris was first in two events in the boys meet.

Loyalsock scored 24 fourth quarter points and got 28 from Keely Henninger in a 62-57 win. Sami Lane and Jonaida Williams combined to score 30 points for the Lancers (10-4), who travel to Mount Carmel Tuesday. Alyssa Rogers and Carrie Egli combined for 27 points but it wasn't enough as Hughesville lost at home, 64-42 to Southern Columbia. Ashley Carl's 23 points powered Elkland to a 64-34 win over Galeton. Carrie Tubbs (15) and Logan Collier (12) also scored in double figures for the Rams.

Lewistown had a 24-14 advantage in the second and third quarters in a 42-32 win over Central Mountain in girls basketball.

Jenny Meslener scored a team-high 16 points and had 22 rebounds in Lewisburg's 55-51 loss to Mount Carmel. Emily Lesher added 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Sullivan County survived a fourth-quarter rally by Bloomsburg and held on for a 34-30 win. Sullivan led 26-12 after three quarters. Alyssa McDonald had 10 points to lead the Griffins.

Muncy's Courtney Ebner had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds as Muncy defeated Benton, 57-22. Danielle Berninger added 12 points, 7 steals and 7 assists.

In boys basketball action, Central Columbia hit double digits in all four quarters in a 48-23 win over Warrior Run. Travis Kline had 10 points for the Defenders. Brock Mullen scored 17 points to lead Sullivan County to a 42-40 win over Benton. Derek Wilkins added 11 for the Griffins, now 5-8.

Nick Koletar hit four free throws in the final 30 seconds of the game to help South Williamsport ice a 54-50 win over Millville in boys basketball.

Loyalsock's Tyler Bogaczyk started for the first time this season on Friday night and finished with a season-high 25 points in the Lancers' 67-41 win over Selinsgrove. He made three 3-pointers and added 14 rebounds. The Lancers started fast with a 36-17 halftime lead.

Penn State's Adam Lynch pinned 11th-ranked Ryan Prater in the second period to propel the Nittany Lions to a 24-11 win over Illinois in college wrestling. Bryan Pearsall worked out a 13-12 decision at 133 pounds for the Nittany?Lions.

Lycoming's Isaiah Britton picked up a major decision victory at 149 pounds and Mike Maurer got a pin at 141 to lead the Warriors to a 22-12 win over Messiah.

Canton's Garth Mahosky picked up a technical fall at 135 pounds in a 45-35 loss to Mifflinburg in high school wrestling. Ben Pepper won by fall in 18 seconds at 160 for the Warriors.
