Lycoming's men's basketball team clinched a Commonwealth playoff spot and a home game in it with a 79-66 win Tuesday night at Messiah. This will be second-year coach Guy Rancourt's first playoff appearance.
Eric Anthony led Lycoming (19-4, 9-3) with 22 points, while Will Kelly added 21.
In women's basketball, Lycoming fell 64-43 to No. 17 Messiah. Allison Mock's 8 points led Lyco.
In boys basketball, Williamsport trimmed a 13-point halftime deficit to four points with under a minute remaining, but couldn't draw any closer in a 68-59 loss to State College. Williamsport's Rafiq Taylor had five 3-pointers and finished with 25 points.
Montoursville scored just 12 second-half points and allowed an eight-point halftime lead to disappear in a 51-41 defeat to Shamokin. Blake Berresford led the Warriors with 14 points.
Antoine Ellison-Love scored his 1,000th career point as Loyalsock beat Midd-West, 87-54.
Doug Zehner scored 18 points as Muncy beat St. John?Neumann, 61-45.
In girls basketball, Lewisburg's Jenny Meslener had a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds, but didn't receive much scoring help in a 41-37 loss to Danville in a game that could cost the Green Dragons a share of the Heartland-II title. Loyalsock can now win the title outright tonight with a win over Southern Columbia.
Muncy's Breanne Phillips and Danielle Berninger each set new career highs in points scored and the Indians defeated Bucktail, 82-46. Phillips had 22 points, while Berninger had 16. Phillips added eight assists.
Williamsport outscored Selinsgrove by 13 points in the second half and defeated the Seals, 57-46. Rachel Fatherly led the Millionaires with 18 points, while Aisha Evans added 16.
Three Elkland players scored in double figures led by Ashley Carl's 18 points and the Rams defeated Liberty, 45-23.
Wellsboro's Alex Marple made 16 of 20 foul shots and scored 29 points in the Green Hornets' 47-40 victory over Mansfield to finish the regular season for both teams.
North Penn's Corinne Warren had 14 points and the Panthers beat Williamson, 42-20.
Cowanesque Valley finished the regular season as NTL?West champions after a 46-24 victory over Galeton.
Rimma Heverly's 21 points paced Central Mountain in a 57-46 win over Indian Valley.
In wrestling, South Williamsport received back-to-back wins at 103 and 112 pounds from Andrew Gipe and Anthony Caschera but the Mounties couldn't slow the District 4 Class AA Dual champion, losing to Benton, 48-13.
Minus a forfeit at 119 pounds, Williamsport won every weight from 103-130, but Selinsgrove won the last six weights in a 54-25 victory. TJ Tressler, Steffen Yaskoweak and Leroy Harman all had falls for Williamsport.
Warrior Run received falls from Jeff Stroup (125), Chris Pfirman (135), Elisa Biddle (152) and Brandon Michael (189) and it defeated Southern Columbia, 42-24.
Lewisburg won five straight matches from 160-103 pounds and the Green Dragons defeated Mifflinburg, 47-23.
