Man allegedly takes 'register closed' signs
ELKLAND - Max Melvin Miller, 20, of 408 Lake Road, Millerton, was charged by Lawrence Township Police with three counts each of theft and receiving stolen property.
According to documents filed in Elkland District Court, on April 19 Miller stole three "register closed" signs, valued at $11, from the Acorn Market at the intersection of Route 328 and Route 15 in Tioga Township. Miller was caught on video, police said, and also had photos of the stolen signs on the dashboard of his car that were posted on Facebook. A preliminary hearing is set for June 10 before District Judge Brian Edgcomb.
Man charged with marijuana possession
ELKLAND - Robert Micheal Hetherton, 27, of 46 W. Fifth St., Corning, N.Y., was charged by state police with possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
According to documents filed in Elkland District Court, on March 26 Hetherton was pulled over by state police in a vehicle at a DUI checkpoint in Lawrence Township and was found with a glass marijuana pipe, a green cloth case for the pipe and a Tupperware container with a substance that later was tested positive as marijuana. A preliminary hearing is set for June 24 before District Judge Brian Edgcomb.
5 motorists charged with drunken driving
ELKLAND - Five people were charged with drunken driving recently.
According to records at the office of District Judge Brian Edgcomb, they are:
Brett Micheal Krietner, 22, of 2001 Route 49, Westfield, two counts by Westfield Borough Police in Westfield on March 27.
Gordon White, 26, of 287 North Street, Westfield, one count by Westfield Borough Police in Westfield on April 11.
Eric Lee Peterson, 32, of 131 Coolidge Ave., Elkland, two counts by Elkland Borough Police in Elkland on April 25.
Jeremy Ray Claypoole, 33, of 16586 Gauley Turnpike, Ireland, W. Va., two counts by state police in Lawrence Township on Feb. 24.
Scott Edward Wetherbee, 41, of 69 Button Hollow Road, Middlebury Center, two counts by Elkland Police in Elkland on April 25. Wetherbee also was charged with marijuana possession and use and, or possession of drug paraphernalia.
