member services chief
The Manufacturer & Business Association, one of the largest employers' associations of its kind in the U.S., recently announced that Cynthia Biner has been hired as member services coordinator for the organization's Central Pennsylvania Division, located at 2401 Reach Road, Suite 102, in Williamsport. The Association, headquartered in Erie, also has offices in Harrisburg.
As member services coordinator, Biner is responsible for managing the office, coordinating events, responding to customer inquiries, and promoting membership relations in the area, a news release said. She has more than 25 years of experience as a manager, sales representative, buyer, manufacturers' representative and sales trainer. Most recently, she worked for Imagine That, located in Denver, where she was a sales representative for the Western Colorado region for more than 30 vendor lines and represented manufacturers at trade shows throughout the U.S. She also worked as an independent representative for Nestegg Enterprise in Colorado, representing various gift, jewelry and clothing vendors nationwide. Biner attended Cal State Fullerton and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she majored in business and English.
Toastmasters honor

Lewis Lumber Products employee Curt Wolfhope earned a Toastmaster Competent Communicator Award from Toastmasters International. According to Daniel Rex, executive director of Toastmasters International, "the program involves a series of rigorous assignments which provide instruction and practice of the basic techniques of public speaking."
Wolfhope has been employed by Lewis Lumber Products for 18 years and has had several roles within the company. He currently is a salesman and manages central and western Pennsylvania as well as Ohio clients. He resides in Old Lycoming Township, is married, and has two children.
"I am very proud of Curt. He is an asset to our company and I admire his willingness to learn and improve his skills. I know this achievement will enhance Curt's relationships with his clients as well as provide more leadership opportunities here at Lewis Lumber Products," says Keith Atherholt, president of Lewis Lumber Products.
Engineer joins

Poole Anderson Construction is adding Brandon Group to its staff as a project engineer, a news release said.
Before joining the company full time, Group worked for Poole Anderson as an intern while completing his education. He holds an associate's degree in architecture and a bachelor's degree in construction management from the Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Group is currently assisting with the C.E. McCall Middle School and Ferguson Township Elementary School renovations for Poole Anderson Construction.
Hospital welcomes
PR coordinator
Lock Haven Hospital has announced the addition of Jeffrey Johns to the position of marketing and public relations coordinator.
Johns has been a professional communicator for more than 25 years, most recently as the director of marketing and communications for the NBA Development League's Erie BayHawks. Prior to that, Johns was the director of communications for the Manufacturer's Association of Northwest Pennsylvania and spent 10 years as the program director and morning talk show host for WJET Radio, in Erie.
Johns is a graduate of Medaille College in Buffalo, with a degree in media communications. He was a member of the board of directors of the Erie-based Hooked-On Books program and served as president of the FIRST Robotics Team 63 boosters.
Johns and his wife of 22 years, Katie, a freelance writer, have two children; Thomas, a sophomore at Penn State Behrend and Callie. Johns is a self-described long-suffering Buffalo Bills and Sabres fan, who enjoys collecting books and reading.
