Why is the oil still flowing into the Gulf? America has the best high-tech engineering capability in the world. And, think of it, we sent men to the moon decades ago. The engineering challenge to cap the oil flow is enormous, but nothing our engineers can't solve. Why no results so far? Because the government is making this a political football at the expense of our whole nation, not to mention the folks along the Gulf.
Give the nation's engineering community a chance to plug this leak. If Presient Obama wants to lead, he should call for a major meeting of all our top engineers, not bureaucrats. Fly them to Louisiana, provide room and board, pay per diem, whatever it takes to assemble a team of technical problem solvers. Charge them with finding a solution, and they will.
