Pine Street United Methodist Church recently awarded six scholarships to local students, totaling $11,000.
Four scholarships from the Music Scholarship Fund were given to Andrew Mextorf, a music major at Mansfield University, and Brian Mextorf, a student at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, both sons of Richard and Katherine Mextorf of Port Matilda; Rachael Grimes, a student at Mansfield University and the daughter of William and Bertha Hall of Williamsport; and Torey Harding, a student at Berklee College of Music and the son of Lonny and Jessie Harding of Allenwood. These funds are made possible from an anonymous bequest to the church for the purpose of encouraging young musicians.
Two awards are made from the R. Andrew Lady Scholarship Fund to Nicholas Grimes, student at Lycoming College and the son of William and Bertha Hall of Williamsport, and Drew A. Tompkins, a student at Lycoming College and the son of Drew Tompkins and Kimberly Tompkins of Montgomery. These awards are possible through a fund established in memory of R. Andrew Lady for members attending United Methodist colleges.
