Two things that drew Richard S. Ogurcak to ADT Security Services were the age and stability of the company.
Ogurcak came on board when the company was 100-years-old. More than 30 years later, Ogurcak is still with the company and looking forward to evolving with the ever changing company.
Today, Ogurcak is a commercial sales representative with ADT and said it is still a stable company, even in today economy, with locations across the country.
What makes the company unique is its versatility.
"We are a complete security company and meet the needs of our customers. We can find those solutions, no matter what they are," Ogurcak said. "With most companies, burglary and fire alarms are pretty much a normal thing. But, we reach into access control, closed circuit televison and video surveillance."
Ogurcak said he likes the ADT team and its rewards.
ADT has been serving security needs for more
than 130 years. Aside from residential needs,
the company also serves commercial and industrial security needs as well. The company
installs security systems, services, monitors and bills all of its security systems.
"It benefits the customers, starting out with sales, installation, service, monitoring and billing. It is all ADT. None of this is contracted out or goes to the lowest bidder. These are all ADT people and if a customer has issues, they are easily directed to where they need to go and handled all in-house," Ogurcak said.
Some customers are using the products for more than just security.
"Companies have found many ways to use the video surveillance for self help benefits. I have one school district that uses the camera to see how much snow accumulates in the parking lot at one end of the district compared what's at the other end. It's a self benefit. It is not what the camera is sold for, but other uses are found for it," Ogurcak said.
Another company was able to document how long a service company worked on their boiler, disputing a bill for six to eight hours when the footage proved that the repairman was only there for five hours, according to Ogurcak.
Cameras are also used for workplace violence and undercharging people for products because they are friends, family or acquaintances, according to Ogurcak.
Ogurcak said that there is a lot of value built into the security company's pricing structure.
"We look to provide value and a partnership with our customers. What they are initially doing is making an investment with their company and they are expecting a return and we are providing that return on whatever security system that they are looking for," Ogurcak said.
Companies margins are too close to leave anything to chance these days, according to Ogurcak.
"Everybody has to be so competitive . They can't afford a loss. A company has a loss whether it is a burglary or internal theft, where they can't make their delivery in time to their supplier. (The supplier) may go somewhere else. They may lose their business," Ogurcak said.
The security company is also homeland security compliant, which allows the company to get into areas where other security companies may not be able to get into, according to Ogurcak.
