Lycoming Nursery School now accepting applications

August 30, 2010
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

Lycoming Nursery School, 825 Arch St., has offered a positive, supporting atmosphere to children for more than 43 years. The nonprofit school is governed by a parent board and offers 3-, 4- and 5-year-old children a unique school environment. Children are divided into three large, light-filled classrooms.

In the multi-purpose room, the children participate in a weekly Stretch-N-Grow program and get the opportunity to have supervised time to run, climb and play with their friends each school day.

The dedicated teachers encourage academic and social development using art, music, early math, science and literacy, along with monthly field trips. The James V. Brown Library Storymobile visits the school twice monthly. The school encourages parent participation and welcomes family members to attend field trips with their student.

Classes begin Thursday, Sept. 7 and are held from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from September though May.

To attend, a child must be 3 years old by Sept. 1. Enrollment includes 52 students total with one teacher and aide per room. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

The school will host a fall open house from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31.
