Loyalsock's Annie Evans and Anna Criswell won a three-set match at No. 2 doubles to lift Loyalsock to a 3-2 win over Hughesville in girls tennis on Tuesday afternoon. The Loyalsock duo dropped the first set before winning the final two, 6-4 and 6-1. The Lancers improved to 5-0.
Defending Class AA singles champion Maria Cioffi put together another dominating performance, winning 6-0 and 6-0, and South Williamsport defeated St. John Neumann, 5-0.
Montgomery swept the doubles matches and won two of three singles as it defeated Muncy, 4-1.
Montoursville's two doubles teams won in straight sets as it defeated Milton, 3-2.
Jersey Shore won all five matches in straight sets and defeated Selinsgrove, 5-0.
In boys soccer, Muncy defeated St. John?Neumann, 7-0. Brendan Bonnell scored twice for the Indians.
Jakin Rinkleman and Ian Jones scored goals as the Williamsport opened its season with a 2-1 win at Shikellamy. The Millionaires outshot Shikellamy, 10-2 and built a 2-0 lead early in the second half.
Logan Yerger scored three goals and assisted on another as South Williamsport thumped Southern Columbia, 5-0. Brandon Johnson added two goals for the Mounties (2-0).
Central Mountain allowed the game's first goal, but scored the final two as it defeated Philipsburg-Osceola, 2-1.
Troy scored the game's only goal with just 3.2 seconds remaining in the first half as it edged Wellsboro, 1-0.
Hughesville's Dalton Seabridge scored with 20 minutes remaining to lift the Spartans past Montoursville, 1-0.
In girls soccer, Madison Bower scored the lone goal to give Millville a 1-0 victory over Muncy.
In girls cross country, Sullivan County lost in meets with Danville and Midd-West and defeated Shikellamy, 15-50.
Lewisburg's girls took five of the top eight places to defeat Selinsgrove, Central Columbia and Williamsport. Lewisburg's Shannon Wright was the overall winner, finishing over a minute and a half in front of the next finisher.
Montoursville won all three meets with wins over Southern Columbia, Jersey Shore and Mount Carmel. The Warriors' Rachel Lander set a new course record, running a Mount Carmel course record of 23:16.
Warrior Run placed three runners in the top 10 and defeated Shamokin, Mifflinburg, Bloomsburg, CMVT and Milton.
In boys cross country, Sullivan County won two of three meets, defeating Shikellamy and Midd-West, while losing to Danville.
Lewisburg boys took five of the top eight places to beat Selinsgrove, Central Columbia and Williamsport in the quadrangular meet at Lewisburg. Selinsgrove's Vince Fadale took first place.
Montoursville won two of three meets, defeating Southern Columbia and Mount Carmel.
Warrior Run's Dan Isenberg and Theo Reynolds finished 1-2 and the Defenders won three meets against CMVT, Milton, Bloomsburg, Shamokin and Mifflinburg. Megan Zettlemoyer finished fourth and was the top Defender runner.
In girls volleyball, Wellsboro fell in five sets to Coudersport (25-21, 20-25, 25-20, 16-25, 8-15). Seniors Taylor Copp (6) and Alex Marple (8) combined for 14 kills for the Green Hornets.
In golf, Central Columbia posted a low 415 to beat Danville and Montoursville, which each shot 427s at Liberty Valley Golf Course. CJ Hollister anchored the Blue Jays with a 76 while Montgomery's Kyle Deisher posted the day's lowest score with a 72.
Colin Rice shot a 78 to help Midd-West shoot the low score of 425 in HAC-I action. Selingrove finished the second with a 435 with Jersey Shore third with a 446. Jordan Eck shot an 86 to help Williamsport to a 469.
In women's volleyball, Lycoming's Megan Schulze and Kelly Rose scored four points during a critical 5-1 run as it rallied to defeat Penn College in five sets (24-26, 25-13, 24-26, 25-23, 15-8). The Warriors trailed 22-20 in the fourth set before Schulze and Rose sparked the rally.
