MANSFIELD - Mansfield University will hold Saturday Morning Art classes for children in the community.
The classes will be for children ages 4 through 14 and will be held in the brand-new art building in Allen Hall that recently was constructed on campus.
According to instructor Andrew Wales, art education students at Mansfield are preparing lessons involving creative activities including the creation of artist trading cards that young people can create and trade with friends. Another group will be creating their own "imaginary island" and creating maps and artifacts from the world they imagine. Younger children will be starting off with making masks to wear.
"Because groups are small, children can get a lot of individual attention from the college students, who have many ambitious projects in store," Wales said.
Upcoming classes are from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 18 to Dec. 4 with no classes on Oct. 16 and Nov. 27.
