The Williamsport-Lycoming Chamber of Commerce Education Committee welcomed the county's newest school superintendent Tuesday night with a reception at the Williamsport Country Club. Robert Grantier, who became Loyalsock Township School District's leader in April, formerly was the head of Pine Grove Area School District.
Education committee member Ann Marie Phillips said Grantier has experience in education and curricular design, strategic planning, central business operation and building projects.
"Mr. Grantier has an educational vision incorporating core character values that are driven by the development of educating the whole child," she said.
He uses the many positions he served at Troy Area School District, including dean of students, athletic director, assistant principal, high school principal and superintendent, to better understand students.
"He's done a little bit of everything," Phillips said.
Grantier quickly is becoming a familiar face to Loyalsock students, she added, as he often is found in the schools rather than in his office, and is trying to learn all students' names.
Grantier thanked the committee and his colleagues for their dedication to education.
"Our greatest resource is our children," he said. "This is all about children. I'm honored to be a part of this."
