Elizabeth Bush holds nothing back.

The wife of former state Rep. Alvin Bush, she fears for the future of America under the leadership of the Obama administration.

Bush, who operated two businesses, raised four children and lived a very active civic life in Lycoming County, is a staunch conservative who wants to see a Republican in the White House.

Elizabeth Bush took a moment from shopping recently to tell a reporter what was on her mind.

"I don't trust him," she said of the president. "I don't like his policies, and I think he is spending us into poverty."

She said she would prefer former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in the Oval Office.

So, what kind of changes would she like to see in 2012 and beyond?

"I would like to see a change of Democrat to Republican in the White House," said Bush, who has voted consecutively for 55 years.

"I'd like to see Nancy Pelosi retired to California, never to be heard from again," she added.

Mostly, Bush said she worries about the amount of spending that both the state and federal government are doing.

"I worry about the influence of the unions on the government," she said.

"I trust the United States to come out of it looking like it always has, which is wonderful."

As for her favorite president?

"Ronald Reagan," she said without hesitation.
