Let's suppose a true-blue conservative is elected president in 2012 along with a lock-tight majority in both houses of Congress. The nation heads off in that direction, dismantling much of what some call the "social safety net" and others call the "Nanny State."
Two years later, the electorate succumbs to "buyer's remorse" and elects a distinctly Liberal set of individuals to serve in Congress starting in 2015. Do you suppose those who in 2011 wish to do away with the so-called "lame duck session" of Congress would feel that way? I don't.
