More than 21 club and individual awards were presented March 11 to 13 to members of the Lycoming College Circle K club during the Pennsylvania district statewide convention in Pittsburgh.
Circle K is a leadership program sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Williamsport and Kiwanis International.
Members of Circle K participate in community service activities throughout the year, including raking leaves for the elderly, singing Christmas carols at the Williamsport Home, organizing a self-esteem event for girls, and coordinating car washes and spaghetti dinner fundraisers.
Members provide community service throughout community, including mentoring youth with CAPPA and the Salvation Army's after-school program. They also assist with Kiwanis and Key Club project throughout the year.
Awards included best service display; best costumes; best Kiwanis Adviser award, which was presented to Mike Barclay; best supporting Kiwanis Club award, presented to the Kiwanis Club of Williamsport; the PERK award; first place in the single service award (for Bronze division) for the Girls Self Esteem event; first place club achievement award (for Bronze division); Aarika Olsen and Sara Griggs received distinguished member awards; Jenna Miller received the Distinguished VP award and the Outstanding VP award; and Laura Klym received the Distinguished President award.
The club also placed third in the T-shirt Award and received nine individual service achievement awards for service hours.
Circle K International is a collegiate and university community service, leadership development and friendship organization.
