MANSFIELD - The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education's Board of Governors has extended the contract of Mansfield University President Maravene Loeschke and 10 other PASSHE University presidents and through June 30, 2014.
The action came at the Board of Governors meeting April 7 in Harrisburg.
The Board of Governors is responsible for the employment of the 14 PASSHE University presidents. The decision whether to renew a contract is made annually, based on the recommendations of each University's Council of Trustees and the Chancellor John Cavanaugh.
The Mansfield Council of Trustees unanimously recommended she receive a contract extension at a special meeting on January 26. Loeschke assumed the MU presidency on July 1, 2006.
MANSFIELD - Mansfield University's 22nd annual Student Affairs Outstanding Student Awards Banquet was held in North Manser Dining Hall on Monday, April 11.
The celebration honors students for their service and achievements and recognizes the time and effort put forth by the various advisers to the 115 student organizations on campus.
Forty-three students were nominated for outstanding student service awards and each received a certificate of merit.
They are Amy Augustine, Marissa Bertram, Hannah Bitler, Rochelle Carlisle, Austin Carter, Nicole Chapman, Mark Doherty, Kristopher Dumschat, Nichole Eshleman, Matt Guagliardo, Kelly Griffin, Alexandria Hoenig, Angela Johnson, Jeffrey Jones, Tammy Kessing, Joseph Kosalko, Stephanie Kraft, Josh Laughlin Brydon Lidle IV (received four nominations), Amanda Longey, Madison LoPresto, Catherine Masland, Tessa Minnich, Nicole Moore, Elijah Morgan, Shannon Niglio, Frank Norris, Jessica Prickett, Bryant Rager, Samantha Roberts, Elena Schiltz, Julie Sellers, Meredith Shewell, Adam Simmonds, Courtney Swendsen, Amanda Trimpey, Kelly-Ann Vaccaro, Bradley Veach, Heather Werner and Nicole Yeagley.
MU also had 27 students inducted into Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
Emeka Anosike, Jamie Castellano, Kristopher Dumschat, Ryan Fair, Derrek Gracey, Catherine Griffin, Danielle Hackenberg, Meredith Hafer, Brittany Homet, Hope Jennings, Lauren Jescovitch, Alanna Kaplan, Jaclyn Karlovich, Lisa Kelchner-Kunzmann, Tammy Kessing, Kerry Kozic, Alexander MacDonald, Rachel McClain, Charis O'Connell, Chinonso Okeke, Chelsi Russell, Joyce Simmons, Kristina Smith, Erica Stuart, Erica Wilson, Molly Wilson and Nichole Yeagley are this year's inductees.
Awards of appreciation were given to outgoing Student Government Association President William J. Brown and Committee on Finance Chair Kristopher Dumschat.
SGA and COF recognized Director of Student Affairs Mary Beth Kollar and Administrative Assistant Lindy Hampsher for their dedication to MU students.
Also at the banquet, the Office of Community Service presented Tammy Kessing with an award for outstanding service to the annual Santa's Gift Bag project.
Tricia Dowling was recognized with the Community Service Award. The Student Affairs Division recognized Director of Athletics Roger Maisner for his dedication and service to the division throughout the years.
